The head spa
What is a head spa?
A head spa is an extended scalp and hair treatment that combines a deep cleanse and exfoliation of the scalp with massage of the head, neck, shoulders and hands, water therapy, and a nourishing hair mask. At Halo, sound and aromatherapy are woven through the session and every treatment finishes with a professional blow wave. It is part treatment, part deep rest.
Which treatment should I choose, the Halo Scalp Reset or the Pure Scalp Reset?
Choose the Halo Scalp Reset (2 ½ hours, $259) if you have a hair or scalp concern you want looked at. It opens with an in-depth consultation and you leave with a tailored treatment plan. Choose the Pure Scalp Reset (2 hours, $199) if you simply want to switch off. It is the same restorative head spa without the consultation, and it is ideal for regular self-care.
How long does a head spa take?
The Halo Scalp Reset runs about two and a half hours including the consultation. The Pure Scalp Reset runs about two hours. Both finish with a blow wave, so allow the full time and try not to book anything straight after.
How often should I have a head spa?
It depends on what we are working to improve, and Emily will suggest a rhythm in your treatment plan. As a general guide, every six to eight weeks is recommended for maintaining optimal scalp health.
Can a head spa help with hair loss or thinning?
A healthy scalp gives hair the best possible foundation, and the Halo Scalp Reset consultation looks at your scalp, your hair and the lifestyle factors that may be contributing. Scalp treatments and nutrition guidance may support hair health, but they are not a medical treatment. If you have sudden or patchy hair loss, please also see your GP.
Hair services
Do you do blonde, foils or balayage?
Halo specialises in brunettes and reds using milk_shake colour, with 100 percent grey coverage and semi-permanent smoothies. Gentle face-framing foils are offered to enhance your colour, but Halo does not offer full foiling services or balayage.
What products do you use?
Halo uses products that align with its values of supporting health from the inside out: milk_shake natural beauty colour and care, Davroe Australian plant-based hair wellness, and Bioblends by Dr Libby nutritional support.
Nutrition & wellness
What happens in a Nutrition and Wellness Consultation?
It is a one-hour, whole-body conversation. Emily looks beyond symptoms to the lifestyle factors that may be contributing to hair loss, scalp concerns or low energy, and together you work out simple, practical changes that support long-term health. Emily is a qualified Nutrition Consultant through The Nutrition Academy; the consultation is general wellness guidance rather than medical or dietetic advice.
Visiting Halo
What should I do before my appointment?
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing, purely for your own comfort. You will be asked to remove all jewellery, so it is easiest to leave it at home; if you do wear it, it is kept safely in the treatment room. There is no need to wash your hair before you arrive. That is what we are here for, and unwashed hair gives a truer picture of what is going on with your hair and scalp.
