Halo is in Yungaburra, a heritage village on the Atherton Tablelands about an hour's drive from Cairns. People make the trip for the head spa and stay for the day.
Why drive up the range for it
A Halo head spa is not a twenty-minute add-on. It is two to two and a half hours of scalp facial, water therapy, massage, sound and aromatherapy in a quiet room, finished with a blow wave. Yungaburra is the kind of place that suits arriving slowly and leaving slower, and the drive up the Gillies is part of the reset.
Make a day of it
- Morning: leave Cairns after breakfast. The Gillies Range Road takes about an hour; allow a little longer if you stop at the Cathedral Fig or Lake Barrine on the way.
- Late morning or early afternoon: your treatment at Halo. Book the Pure Scalp Reset for two hours of pure relaxation, or the Halo Scalp Reset if you would like a consultation and plan.
- Afterwards: lunch in the village, a walk along Peterson Creek to look for platypus at dusk, or a drive around Lake Eacham.
Opening days
Halo is open Wednesday and Thursday until 8 pm, Friday until 2 pm and Saturday mornings. Thursday evenings and Saturdays suit day-trippers best. See the contact page for the map and full hours.
